Optimization of Si (core)/CZTS/CZTSe (shell) nanowire array for solar cell

We present an optical simulation of a solar cell employing core (Si) /shell (Kesterite Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) or/and Cu2ZnSnSe4 CZTSe) vertically-aligned nanowire array. The method the is rigorous coupled wave analysis. In first stage, we studied case where shell composed only CZTS or CZTSe. A larger absorptance CZTSe led to value ideal short circuit current (41 mA/cm2) in than (24 mA/cm2). second avoid heat losses without reducing current, proposed 3 µm upper part and 6 lower part. maximum this structure almost twice as large that planar with same amounts used materials. Furthermore, variation maximal incident angle sunlight shows investigated still has good performance long doesn’t exceed 60°.
